Bands on the Sand

If a quick weekend getaway sounds like a great escape then you may want to consider the short trip to Galveston. On Friday Moody Gardens will play host to the popular summer concert series, Bands on the Sand. Local and regional bands will be playing as attendees hang out on the only white sand beach on the island or float on the lazy river. After the performances there will also be fireworks! The show kicks off at 6:00 PM.

Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey’s “Legends”

The circus is coming to town! If you are looking for a family friendly way to kick of the weekend then you may want to head to NRG stadium. There will be three separate performances this Friday. The first will be at 11:30 AM and will end at 1:30 PM, another one will run from 3:30 to 5:30, and the final performance is 7:30-9:30. Tickets will start at $15 but the memories will be priceless!

Ella Enchanted at Central Green Park

How does a movie night at the park sound? Those of you in Katy may be interested in Katy Magazine’s viewing of Ella Enchanted at Willow Fork Drainage District’s Central Green Park! The movie will begin as soon as the sun goes down! Enjoy a great movie in the great outdoors!

Museum District Bike Tour

Starting at 8:00 AM Saturday morning, BikeHouston will be hosting a bike tour of one of the most picturesque parts of the city! This will be a laidback ride and it is more about taking in the sights than it is about burning calories. After the bike tour concludes, participants will be cordially invited to view the “Round Trip: Bicycling Asia Minor, 1891″ exhibit in addition to brunch at the café with their bike buddies! Those who desire to join are asked to meet outside of the Asia Society Texas for the start of the bicycle tour.

Colombia Fest International

Sam Houston Park will play host to this big celebration of Colombian Independence Day! It will be a day filled with great Colombian culture that will be represented through a variety of traditional foods, drinks, arts and crafts! A plethora of musical acts ranging from salsa, merengue, reggaeton, vallenato, and other musical genres will occupy the main stage for your enjoyment!

Rice Village Flea

Local vendors from all over the city will gather at the corner of Times and Morningside for the Rice Village Flea Market! Vintage jewelry and home décor are just some of the several items shoppers will be able to see this Sunday. On top of all the great shopping there will be a rotating roster of great local food trucks on the scene as well! Everything will begin at 11:00 AM.
