As September comes to an end as well as the Houston heat, Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins tomorrow.
According to the American Cancer Society , breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women. It is the second leading cause of cancer among women, and statistics show that 1 in 8 women in the US will develop it during their lifetime. It is also estimated that in 2016, there will be 246,660 new cases of breast cancer.
Breast cancer is not limited to women, men can contract it as well. The cancer begins by a rapid overgrowth of cells in the breast tissue. These growing cells eventually form a tumor and eventually spread to all parts of the body.
It is highly encouraged for women to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle to minimize their risk of breast cancer, and self-examine whenever possible.
Our condolences go to all families whose loved ones have dealt with breast cancer and exhort those who are currently fighting.
