Last Wednesday (September 21), Houston Relocation Professionals (HRP) hosted an insightful luncheon.
“Growing Up Expat” was the name of the event. The purpose was to provide an inside look at the life of expatriates. Living outside of one’s own home country can prove to be an amazing learning experience. It also presents the chance to embrace a different culture, learn a foreign language, try new foods; who doesn’t love trying new foods? The positive side of living in a new country may not always be the case for children growing up.
HRP invited two guest speakers, Robert Cormier and his 13 year old son, Max Comier to give their testimony on being expatriates. Their family has lived in the USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia. Max has already attended multiple international schools. “Growing Up Expat” also featured a panel of relocation professionals: John Cegelski, Marife Alvarez, Leslie Santamaria, and the event’s moderator, Dan Bolger.
Karapasha Realty team’s Karen and Cheri had the great privilege of attending this event.
“What was your key take-away”
Both Karen and Cheri felt that the opportunity presented to people of all ages who are Expats is incredible. They enjoyed the fact that professionals in the relocation industry have a genuine interest in the families who have to deal with international moves. They were also astonished at the maturity shown by Max Comier.
